RM Recruit is pleased to partner with a highly regarded charity based in Birmingham in their search for a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join their team on a part-time, permanent basis (18 hours per week).

Our client offers a flexible, hybrid working environment, requiring office attendance once per week, with the remaining hours worked remotely.

In this role, you will take full ownership of the payroll process, ensuring the accurate compilation and processing of a single payroll, consolidating data from multiple manual systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing payroll accurately and on time for all employees
  • Managing payroll records, including timesheets, tax documents, and deductions
  • Weekly maintenance of HR records (circa 300 staff) and payroll information digitally on MS Excel
  • Monthly preparation salaried employee payroll gross pay, including the calculation of pay for new joiners, leavers, and holiday pay
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant payroll legislation and company policies
  • Preparing the annual PSA declaration
  • Preparation of a quarterly payroll forecast compared to budget
  • Handling payroll queries from employees and resolving any discrepancies
  • Manage transactional processes such as new starters, contract changes, pension enrolment and termination of employment
  • Support the maintenance of the departmental casual pay and recharge calculations per event.
  • Understand the various time and attendance support systems per department
  • Coordinating with HR and finance teams for payroll-related tasks

Person Specification

  • Previous experience in payroll processing is essential
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations and tax laws
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
