Our client is seeking a dedicated Payroll Officer to join their dynamic payroll department, reporting directly to the Payroll Manager. This role is pivotal in delivering an efficient and effective payroll support service.

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid)

Rate £25,500

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Liaising with temps and internal/external customers, answering their queries with a friendly approach.
  • Accurately inputting data in a timely manner to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Calculating Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) and Maternity Pay (SMP) along with all other statutory payments following set criteria.
  • Responding to inquiries from external agencies, such as the Inland Revenue and DSS.
  • Calculating additional payments and deductions as necessary.
  • Administering customer payroll information, including timesheets, new starter files, and payroll reports.
  • Handling errors and amendments with precision.
  • Complying with statutory and company payroll procedures and deadlines.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and urgency in all duties.
  • Upholding the company values and acting as an ambassador for the payroll team.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Experience with UK payroll legislative requirements, including:
    • HMRC submissions
    • CMEC deductions
    • SSP/SMP & SSP deductions
    • Court Orders and other attachment of earnings
  • The ability to manually process Tax and National Insurance calculations, both for UK and Irish payroll.
  • A CIPP or equivalent qualification is essential.
