About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing the delivery of highways projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is a hybrid role, offering flexibility with a combination of remote working and office-based collaboration.
As a Highways Project Manager, you will play a key role in managing the full project lifecycle, from planning and design to construction and final delivery. You will work closely with internal teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that all aspects of the project are executed effectively and in line with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of highways projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaise with clients, local authorities, contractors, and other key stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and expectations are managed.
- Team Leadership: Lead a cross-functional project team, providing guidance and support to ensure successful delivery.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all projects are delivered in line with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment.
- Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project delivery.
- Budget & Cost Control: Monitor project costs and ensure efficient use of resources to stay within the allocated budget.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all work meets the required quality standards and is compliant with relevant regulations and specifications.
- Reporting & Documentation: Provide regular project updates to senior management and clients, ensuring proper documentation is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Experience: Proven experience as a Project Manager within the highways or civil engineering sector, with a strong understanding of highways design, construction, and maintenance projects.
- Project Management Skills: Solid experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide project teams.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with relevant highways and construction standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental considerations.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar) and MS Office Suite.
- Qualifications: A degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field is preferred. Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) are an advantage.
Hybrid Working:
This role offers flexible hybrid working, with a mix of remote and office-based work. You will be required to attend the office for key meetings, site visits, and collaborative sessions as necessary, with the majority of your tasks being completed remotely.
