Compliance ManagerBirmingham city centre£55,000 - £65,000 p/aBell Cornwall Recruitment are delighted to be working with an award-winning regional law firm based in Birmingham. They are looking for a Compliance Manager to be a key contact and advisor for the firm.The Compliance Manager role:This person will be responsible for ensuring the firm's risk management and compliance meets with all necessary standards and regulations. Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Promote and support the embedding of a culture of compliance. Provide coaching to members of the wider team.
  • Point of contact for the onboarding team to deal with queries and provide solutions.
  • Provide technical advice on compliance issues, including but not limited to anti money laundering, client due diligence, GDPR, conflicts of interest etc.
  • Conducting compliance risk assessment training workshops.
  • Conducting internal reviews and audits.
  • Advising internal management and partners on the implementation of compliance programs.
  • Manage external compliance partners.
  • Developing risk management strategies and creating regular reports.
  • Following up on compliance issues that require investigation.
  • Evaluating compliance systems and ensuring adequate systems are in place.

The ideal Compliance Manager will have:

  • Minimum degree-level education or equivalent - legal or compliance qualification preferred.
  • Experience of working in Risk and Compliance within a law firm or equivalent regulated environment
  • Good working knowledge of the relevant laws, regulations, and codes of conduct applicable to the operation of a law firm, including the SRA Standards and Regulations, Data Protection and Anti-Money laundering.
  • Knowledge of Legal Aid work and quality standards would be desirable.
  • Managerial / coaching others experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • Analytical, numerate, and good attention to detail
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Client service focused.
  • Exemplary IT skills.
