Interim Programme Director - Infrastructure - Economy and Environment

We are currently partnering with a local authority in the Midlands, who are looking to recruit to a number of senior interim roles within their Place Directorate.

The council is in the middle of a significant transformation journey, and is reviewing their future operating models and structures to ensure they have the right leadership and capacity in place.

As part of this process, the council is looking to recruit an interim Programme Director for Infrastructure. The new Council Plan sets out the priorities for the next four years, and Place and Growth are at the heart of creating strong and prosperous communities. To help achieve this, the council has already committed significant capital investment to expand and maintain transport infrastructure, improve connectivity, maximise biodiversity and uphold environmental standards, and reduce carbon emissions.

The Programme Director will be responsible for the delivery of a number of projects including the construction of a major road development programme, highways infrastructure investment, highway maintenance, city centre improvements, natural flood management and S106 highways, open spaces and sports schemes, and will be responsible for identifying the budget and resources needed to deliver the current and future programme.

The ideal candidate will have experience of delivering major infrastructure projects, have excellent partnership skills and have previous experience of working within a political environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with an ambitious local authority and deliver tangible improvements to connectivity and economic outcomes for local communities.

This contract is for 6 months initially and will be inside scope of IR35. There will be some onsite presence required but the council is open to hybrid working.
