We’re working in collaboration with a highly regarded architectural practice to find an experienced and driven Architect to join their Birmingham studio in a senior leadership role – either as a Project Director or Associate Director, depending on your background and focus.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional to step into a key strategic position, working closely with the Studio Director, national sector leads, and wider teams across the practice. The role will involve leading complex projects, developing client relationships, and helping to shape the future of the studio and its people.

The Role:

The successful candidate will take the lead on project delivery, design and/or technical direction, and act as the lead consultant across multidisciplinary teams. Beyond project involvement, there is a strong emphasis on mentoring, internal development, and contributing to the ongoing success and reputation of the studio regionally.

Responsibilities include:
  • Leading projects through all RIBA stages, ensuring design excellence and technical delivery.

  • Acting as the primary client liaison, building long-term, trusted relationships.

  • Supporting the Studio Director with strategic planning and commercial performance.

  • Mentoring and developing junior and mid-level staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning.

  • Participating in internal design and technical reviews to maintain high standards across the board.

  • Contributing to business development efforts, including networking, bid writing, and client engagement.

  • Collaborating with national and sector leads to align studio goals with wider business objectives.

  • Driving innovation, sustainability, and quality in every aspect of project delivery.

About You:

We’re seeking a chartered Architect (ARB/RIBA) with demonstrable experience in a senior leadership role within an architectural practice. You’ll be a strong communicator with a collaborative approach, able to lead by example and inspire those around you.

You should also bring:

  • A solid portfolio of successfully delivered projects across multiple sectors.

  • Proven leadership skills, both on projects and within a studio environment.

  • Excellent commercial awareness and strategic thinking.

  • A proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
