Job Opportunity: Primary Behaviour Mentor / SEMH 1:1 Support –Weoley Castle


A well-established mainstream Primary School in Weoley Castle are seeking dedicated and experienced Behaviour Mentor / SEMH 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team. The right candidates will have direct experience supporting pupils who are at risk of permanent exclusion or who are transitioning back to school from a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)

Role Details

Position: Behaviour Mentor / SEMH 1:1 Support
Location: Weoley Castle
Start Date: Immediate
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday term time


Key Responsibilities:

Providing 1:1 support to pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Supporting pupils at risk of exclusion or returning from PRU settings.
Developing tailored strategies to manage challenging behaviours.
Building positive relationships to encourage engagement and progression in learning.
Working closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for pupils.


What We're Looking For:

Previous experience working with primary-age children in a similar role. - Essential
Strong understanding of SEMH and behaviour management techniques.
Experience in working with pupils who are at risk of exclusion or transitioning from PRU.
Relevant qualifications or training in supporting SEMH/behavioural needs (e.g., Youth Work, Psychology, SEND, or similar).
A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to supporting pupils in their personal and academic growth.
