We are seeking a skilled and reliableMachine Operatorto join our team based in Coleshill, B46. This position involves setting up, operating, and maintaining various machines used to cut, shape, and process steel materials for production. The ideal candidate will have experience with cutting machinery, grinders, press brakes, and other tools commonly used in the steel industry. A strong understanding of safety protocols and some familiarity with welding and plasma cutting techniques will be a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and maintain cutting machinery (including semi-automatic saws) to cut steel to specified dimensions and requirements.
- Material Handling: Use hand grinders and deburring tools to smooth and finish edges on cut steel, ensuring clean, accurate results.
- Machinery Operation: Operate additional machinery such as press brakes, pillar drilling machines, and steel ironworkers (cropper) to shape and process materials as needed.
- Cutting and Welding Techniques: Apply plasma cutting, welding, or other techniques to prepare materials for projects.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect cut materials for accuracy, ensuring they meet exact specifications before advancing to the next production phase.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety protocols, ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a safe, organized workspace.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve minor equipment issues, making necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency in operations.
- Team Collaboration: Work with team members to meet production targets and ensure timely project completion.
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 6 AM to 6 PM
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in machine operation, particularly in steel processing or manufacturing environments, is required.
- Machine Expertise: Ability to operate cutting machinery, hand grinders, press brakes, pillar drills, and steel ironworker machines (cropper).
- Welding Skills: Basic welding experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Steel Processing Knowledge: Familiarity with handling sheet steel, measuring, cutting, and shaping materials.
- Health & Safety: Strong understanding of safety regulations in manufacturing and steel processing environments.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in measuring and cutting steel, ensuring high-quality results.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
