Assistant Quantity Surveyor required to work for a leading UK main building contractor on one of Birmingham city centre’s major high rise residential developments. This £60M project is in the early stages of construction.

Role:   

As a site based Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will work closely with the Commercial Manager and other QS’s overseeing all commercial activity on site in this fast-paced main contractor environment.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor from a main contractor or a sub contractor providing you have excellent project exposure. The key for this role is finding a candidate who wants to be successful with drive, ambition and a history of profitable projects.

You will play a key role in the commercial success of schemes including:

  • Full Assistant Quantity Surveyor skills including measurements, valuation, and agreement of work sections
  • Submitting accurate detailed payment applications
  • Identifying areas of overspend and waste
  • Identifying and reviewing areas of commercial risk and opportunity
  • Chasing payment certificates and outstanding payments
  • Ensuring records are made and recorded to support any variations and claims
  • Producing accurate internal reporting
  • Optimise cash in and the net cash position
  • Advise on commercial risks and opportunities within the project/s
  • Negotiate with clients representatives and other consultants
  • Advise Project Management on contractual implications of intended courses of action

Ideally you will be Degree qualified in Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying and completed or working toward MRICS.

This is a permanent role with excellent career progression. Salary is to £43,000pa depending on experience + car allowance + excellent package.
