Assistant Quantity Surveyor Job Overview
- Contract Negotiation: Assist in negotiating Main Contracts and Subcontracts to ensure favourable commercial terms.
- Cost Management: Break down estimates into cost budgets and monitor project expenditure.
- Tender & Procurement: Source, tender, and procure subcontractor and supplier packages.
- Payment Applications: Prepare and issue Applications for Payment, while also assessing and approving subcontractor and supplier payments.
- Value project variations, changes, and compensation events, ensuring all necessary substantiation is provided
- Prepare delay notifications, extensions of time, and cost impact assessments.
- Support the preparation of loss and expense claims, ensuring additional sums due are properly calculated and justified.
- Work with site teams to create Cost-Value-Forecasts (CVF) and track financial performance.
- Advise operations teams on cost implications, risks, and commercial strategies for projects
- Assist in maintaining Gantt Charts and project timelines to reflect changes and progress.
Assistant Quantity Surveyor Job Requirements
- Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying
- Background in demolition, asbestos removal, geotechnical, or civil engineering projects is desirable.
- Strong understanding of building codes, construction contracts, and cost control processes.
- Exceptional written and spoken English skills.
- Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
- Highly organised with excellent time management skills.
