This client are looking for an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team to ensure that projects across the UK run on time and to budget. This role will sit within the commercial team and work alongside the project managers across the business.

Client Details

This client work across a range of different projects within the hospitality and retail sector with an established client base. They have their offices based in Birmingham but work on projects covering the breath of the UK.

Description

This role will involve:

  • Assist with cost estimation, budgeting, and tracking to ensure projects remain within approved budgets.
  • Measure and quantify materials and works, prepare tender documents, and support contractor/supplier selection for optimal value.
  • Aid in cost control, including interim valuations, final accounts, and tracking changes or variations with appropriate documentation.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, ensure quality standards, and provide accurate reporting.
  • Maintain detailed records, prepare cost reports, and support risk identification and mitigation efforts while fostering collaboration and teamwork.

Profile

Ideally you will have:

  • Expertise in managing budgets, controlling costs, and preparing detailed cost reports
  • Skilled in developing Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and conducting accurate cost planning
  • Proficient in using quantity surveying tools and software, including Bluebeam
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
  • Strong aptitude for analytical thinking and creative problem-solving
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on effective communication and collaboration
  • Educational background in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or equivalent professional experience
