Managing Quantity Surveyor - Birmingham

Daniel Owen is looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join the new regional office of a growing construction company specialising in commercial, fit-out and refurbishment projects. With a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and efficiency, they deliver projects that meet the highest standards of quality and functionality.

Location: Birmingham City Centre

Position: Managing Quantity Surveyor

Salary: 90,000 -95,000 per annum + Car allowance + package

Contract Type: Permanent

Availability: This role is immediately available and open to 3-month notices

Role Overview:

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee the commercial and financial management of varied construction projects. You will be responsible for ensuring cost efficiency, contract compliance, and commercial success while leading a team of Quantity Surveyors. This role is key to driving profitability, managing risks, and maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the commercial team and oversee all aspects of quantity surveying.
  • Manage budgets, costs, and financial forecasting for projects.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and legal obligations.
  • Lead procurement and tendering processes.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Oversee valuations, variations, and final accounts.
  • Provide strategic commercial advice to senior management.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within budget and on time.
  • Implement risk management strategies to mitigate financial exposure.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager in the construction industry.
  • Experience of using COINS is a necessity
  • Experience overseeing multiple, varied projects at one time.
