Role Overview:

The Managing Quantity Surveyor will be an integral member of the project team, supporting daily project delivery and senior management. This role offers opportunities to build on existing skills while learning new ones within a collaborative environment. The Managing Quantity Surveyor will be involved in managing a variety of civil engineering and water treatment projects, focusing on cost efficiency, commercial analysis, and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Management:

    • Provide accurate cost and value reports for projects and business units.

    • Manage cash flow reporting and project forecasting.

    • Update cost and commercial plans regularly.

    • Handle subcontract procurement and financial accounts.

    • Liaise with clients and third parties on contract changes and payments.

    • Work with the project team to ensure budget expectations are met.

    • Identify and act on commercial opportunities to reduce costs and risks.

  • Contract Management:

    • Manage contract and subcontract agreements (primarily NEC contracts).

    • Ensure contracts align with corporate governance and identify risks and opportunities.

    • Oversee subcontractor procurement and management.

Key Measures:

  • Accurate forecasting and reporting.

  • Effective risk mitigation and cost control.

  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.

  • Meeting project deadlines and producing high-quality reports.

About the Candidate:

  • Essential:

    • Previous experience in the water industry

    • Familiarity with NEC contracts and construction law.

    • Experience in commercial management and subcontractor procurement.

    • Strong forecasting, cost analysis, and problem-solving skills.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and excellent organizational skills.

    • Member of RICS or working towards it.

  • Desirable:

    • Experience with direct delivery contractors.

    • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying.
