Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join a dynamic and growing main contractor specializing in commercial fit-out projects, with a strong focus on hotel and leisure work. The ideal candidate will be capable of managing all aspects of the commercial side of projects from inception to completion, ensuring efficient project delivery, and maintaining high standards of quality and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Tender Management:

Receive and review tenders from subcontractors and suppliers.

Prepare and submit competitive pricing for various projects.

Demonstrate awareness of market trends and up-to-date knowledge of pricing figures to ensure competitiveness.

Surveying & Cost Management:

Undertake surveying and site visits to ensure accurate assessments of project requirements.

Accurately price and quantify works, ensuring value for money while maintaining quality standards.

Procurement:

If tenders are successful, manage the procurement of all trades and suppliers for the project.

Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and services.

Valuations & Reporting:

Carry out monthly valuations, ensuring accurate progress reporting.

Prepare and submit valuations to clients for invoicing and ensure timely final account submissions.

Project Lifecycle:

Manage commercial aspects of projects from inception through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.

Ensure accurate cost control, with a focus on reducing waste and maintaining profitability.

Client & Stakeholder Liaison:

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Attend project meetings and assist in problem-solving to ensure projects run smoothly.

Skills & Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a focus on commercial fit-out projects and happy to undertake estimating duties.

Strong understanding of the hotel and leisure fit-out sector.

Ability to receive tenders, assess market trends, and price competitively.

Experienced in procuring trades and suppliers and managing the full procurement process.

Excellent knowledge of contract administration and cost control techniques.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.

Ability to carry out monthly valuations and prepare final account submissions.

A proactive approach with excellent organizational and time management skills.

Desired Experience:

Previous experience working with a main contractor specializing in commercial fit-out.

Strong understanding of current market trends and construction costings.

Experience managing projects from inception through to completion, including final account settlement.
