Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: East Midlands (Work from home with office options in Stoke, Derby, and Birmingham)

Salary:

Quantity Surveyor (QS): £45,000 - £50,000

Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS): £55,000 - £60,000

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team.

Job Overview:

As a Quantity Surveyor (QS) or Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS), you will play a critical role in managing the financial aspects of projects through to final accounts. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established contractor that operates across a wide range of sectors including Residential, Healthcare, Education, Blue Light Services, and Decarbonization projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Management:

Understand and accurately forecast project values, costs, and margins against the target margin.

Agree changes and solutions with the Contracts/Project Manager prior to implementation.

Subcontractor Management:

Measure, value, negotiate, and check all subcontract interim and final account applications.

Ensure the accuracy of subcontractors' measurement and process accordingly.

Project Involvement:

Support projects across various sectors such as new builds, extensions, refurbishments, fit-outs, and decarbonization works.

Work closely with the Contracts/Project Management teams to ensure financial control of projects.

Regular Site Visits:

Attend site meetings once per week, in addition to working from home.

Visit the Stoke or Derby office as required and attend the Birmingham office approximately once every 3 weeks.

Skills & Experience Required:

For Quantity Surveyor (QS):

At least 2 years of experience in a similar role within a construction environment.

Solid understanding of construction processes and cost management.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

For Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS):

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.

Extensive experience managing costs, contracts, and subcontractors.

Strong leadership and mentoring skills.

General Requirements for Both Roles:

Relevant degree or qualification.

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple projects.

Proficient in using Microsoft Office and other quantity surveying software.
