Job Brief:

We are seeking a skilled and commercially driven Quantity Surveyor to join a growing team in Birmingham, working on a portfolio of high-rise residential developments. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in landmark city-centre schemes, delivering large-scale projects from pre-construction through to final account.

You’ll play a vital role in managing costs, contracts, and commercial performance while ensuring quality and value for money across all stages of construction. This is ideal for someone with experience in residential high-rise projects and a strong understanding of urban development challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost plans, budgets, and tender documentation for high-rise residential projects.

  • Manage procurement processes, including subcontractor selection and tender analysis.

  • Monitor and control project expenditure throughout the construction lifecycle.

  • Conduct valuations, process payments, and assess variations.

  • Provide accurate monthly cost reports and cash flow forecasts.

  • Administer contract documentation in line with JCT/NEC forms of contract.

  • Liaise with project managers, architects, and consultants to ensure effective cost control.

  • Attend site meetings and contribute to project delivery strategies.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.

  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar QS role, with proven involvement in high-rise or multi-storey residential builds.

  • Strong knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contract administration.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in cost management software (e.g. CostX, Bluebeam, Excel).

  • MRICS or working toward chartership (preferred but not essential).

  • Full UK driving license.
