Job Title: Interim Estates Surveyor

Location: West Midlands

Contract Type: Interim - 6-months+

Salary: Inside IR35 - Circa (Apply online only) per day

Our client, a local authority in the West Midlands, is seeking an Interim Estates Surveyor to assist in delivering a comprehensive Professional Valuation and Estates Management service. This key role will involve managing acquisitions, disposals, leases, ratings assessments, and other general estate management responsibilities. The role requires a dynamic and experienced professional with a strong knowledge of current legislation and valuation techniques.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections, surveys, and valuations to provide expert advice on property acquisitions, disposals, and leases (including renewals, rent reviews, and licences).
  • Negotiate and process easements, wayleaves, appropriations, and other property agreements.
  • Manage buildings insurance valuations, including processing claims and arranging coverage.
  • Handle non-domestic rating assessments and appeals.
  • Maintain and update the asset register.
  • Oversee the project management of development and refurbishment schemes.
  • Provide strategic advice to City Council departments and Members regarding the Corporate Estate.
  • Support the Council when it acts as an agent for other bodies.
  • Advise on lease variations, dilapidations, breaches of covenant, and the protection of property rights.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Full RICS Membership
  • Proven experience in acquisitions (both by agreement and under CPO powers), disposals, lease renewals, rent reviews, and other property management activities.
  • Strong knowledge of current legislation and valuation techniques relevant to property interests, landlord and tenant matters, non-domestic rating, and building insurance.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Ability to provide strategic advice and guidance to internal stakeholders and Council members.
