Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Interim Head of Building Safety and Compliance to join a local authority in the West Midlands for a 12-month contract. This critical role requires a dynamic leader who will ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance within our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the building safety and compliance functions for the local authority.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation and regulations associated with building safety and compliance.
  • Manage all six compliance disciplines: asbestos, fire, water, lifts, gas, and electricity.
  • Oversee health and safety requirements related to building safety and compliance.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to the Building Safety Manager and Compliance Manager.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance building safety standards.
  • Monitor and report on compliance performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must have local authority experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of legislation related to building safety and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of all six compliance disciplines (asbestos, fire, water, lifts, gas, and electric).
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
