Job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team in Birmingham. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced systems integration environment, delivering bespoke automation solutions to a diverse range of industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement PLC-based control systems using Siemens, Allen Bradley/Rockwell, and Mitsubishi platforms.
- Program, test, and commission PLC and SCADA systems to meet customer specifications.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop automation solutions tailored to client requirements.
- Conduct on-site installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of control systems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, functional design specifications, and user manuals.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations throughout project delivery.
- Provide technical support and training to customers post-installation.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proficient in programming and commissioning PLCs, specifically Siemens (e.g., S7, TIA Portal), Allen Bradley/Rockwell (e.g., ControlLogix, Studio 5000), and Mitsubishi systems.
- Experience in a systems integration environment, working across various industries such as manufacturing, automotive, logistics, or process control.
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to client sites for commissioning and support activities.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with SCADA systems and HMI development.
- Familiarity with safety systems and standards (e.g., SIL, functional safety).
- Knowledge of robotics, motion control, or IoT integration.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Automation, or Control Engineering.
