I am seeking a highly skilled and experienced Signalling/Systems Engineer to join an engineering team working on a prestigious rail infrastructure project. This is a unique opportunity to contribute as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Train Dispatch System (TDS) package, supporting the technical delivery of this critical system while interfacing with multiple contracts and stakeholders.

This role involves technical leadership in the development, procurement, and integration of train dispatch systems, ensuring alignment with safety, operational, and engineering standards. You will play a key part in shaping the system's functionality, tracing technical requirements, and ensuring the system's successful delivery through the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of control systems, signalling, and rail communication technologies, ideally including driver-only operation (DOO) systems, CCTV, and train dispatch systems.
  • Demonstrated experience across the full project lifecycle, including design, testing, and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with safety-critical systems and standards such as Section 50128.
  • Ability to interpret and enforce technical specifications, ensuring compliance with engineering and operational requirements.
  • Understanding of NEC contracts and the commercial aspects of system delivery.
  • System Integration: Knowledge of Automatic Route Setting (ARS), timetabling, and data-driven decision-making systems.
  • Proven ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams, including engineers, contractors, and operational staff.

Desirable Experience:

  • Knowledge of video surveillance, security systems, or ETCS/ERTMS traffic management systems.
  • Background in rolling stock, control systems, or systems consultancy within the rail or aviation sector.
  • Experience engaging with signalling main contractors or consultancies.
  • Understanding of operational impacts on train dispatch and the wider rail network.
