Standards & Controls Engineer

The Standards and Controls team are an expanding department within Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME), responsible for developing, implementing and updating standards for manufacturing assembly equipment. The department manage the delivery of facilities to the client's equipment standards, specifically mechanical, electrical, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) software and robot programming software development in the manufacturing assembly operation areas within the client.

As an engineer in Standards and Controls, you'll be working as part of a multi-disciplined team, assisting across multiple sites. Your key focus will be assisting and advising manufacturing engineering on manufacturing equipment technical issues, standards and specification writing, as well as supporting the planning and coordination of manufacturing facility requirements for new model introduction and model year changes. You'll oversee controls and standards input into new GME-delivered projects in addition to investigating future technologies and feasibility for manufacturing.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise to team problem solving activities to accurately identify root cause and corrective actions
  • Maintain Technical Standards, Project Books and specifications for all Manufacturing systems in line with the departments Bill of Process, global standard operating practices and the client's quality systems
  • Maintain interfaces specifications from Shop Floor PLC's/Applications to Manufacturing Execution Systems
  • Commission and work on machine monitoring/quality systems within Production facilities
  • Developing new suppliers, cost effectively, into the groups Standards for Equipment Manufacture


What you'll need:

  • Experience and expertise in the specification, delivery, installation and launch of Controls Systems, preferably in an automotive or powertrain environment
  • Thorough understanding of machine electrical systems and designs in Manufacturing
  • Ability to deliver operational plans in a highly demanding environment
