Art Teacher for Special Needs College in Birmingham

Position: Art Teacher
Location: Birmingham, West Midlands
Type: Full-time - Long Term (Starting Immediately)

Academics are currently looking for a passionate and skilled Art Teacher who will be available on a full time and long term basis. The Teacher will inspire students through the power of art. This dynamic and inclusive Special Educational Needs (SEN) College based in Birmingham are dedicated to providing students with diverse learning abilities the best possible education and support. Their mission is to foster creativity, self-expression, and personal growth in a safe and engaging environment for students with mixed SEN abilities.

Role Overview:
As an Art Teacher at the SEN College, you will create and deliver engaging and accessible art lessons tailored to the individual needs of their students. You will help students explore their creativity while developing their skills and confidence. Working within a supportive and collaborative team, you will ensure a positive and enriching experience for every student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver art lessons that are differentiated to meet the needs of students with a range of abilities.
  • Ideally experience of teaching UAL Level 2 and 3
  • Foster an inclusive, creative, and positive classroom environment.
  • Support students in exploring a variety of artistic techniques and mediums.
  • Develop individualised learning plans to help students progress and reach their potential.
  • Promote self-expression and build students' confidence through their artwork.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to support students' personal, social, and academic development.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging environment for students to learn and create.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualifications.
  • Experience teaching art to students with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • A creative, patient, and flexible approach to teaching.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge of different artistic techniques and mediums.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
