Role Requirements:

  • Teaching Expertise: Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons in English Language and Literature for students in Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS3 & KS4), tailoring instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the English department to develop and adapt curriculum resources, ensuring alignment with the national curriculum and enhancing student's literacy skills.
  • Student Support: Provide personalised support and feedback to help students reach their full potential, including guiding those who may need extra help and challenging those who excel.
  • Assessment and Progress Tracking: Utilise a range of assessment methods to monitor student progress, identifying areas for improvement and adapting lesson plans as needed.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive, inclusive, and focused classroom environment where students feel safe to express themselves, think critically, and engage in discussions.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and development opportunities to stay up-to-date with educational best practices and further your own skills.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS Certification: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Subject Knowledge: Strong foundation in English Language and Literature, with an understanding of effective teaching practices and strategies.
  • DBS Certificate: Candidates must have a valid DBS certificate or be willing to undergo a DBS check.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to manage time effectively, maintain lesson plans, and assess work in a timely manner.
