We are seeking a motivated and inspiring Media / Film studies Teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in Kings Norton area. If you have a solid background in media / film studies and are enthusiastic about guiding students in understanding the influence of media on society, this could be the ideal role for you!
In the role of Media / Film studies Teacher, you'll be responsible for delivering dynamic and thought-provoking lessons that explore key aspects of media, including its influence on public opinion, advertising, film, and digital content. You will encourage students to critically analyse media and develop their own creative content, equipping them with the necessary skills to engage with and shape today’s digital landscape.
The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of both media theory and hands-on media production. You will be able to teach a wide range of media formats, including film, journalism, digital content, and advertising. Passion for helping students engage with the world of media and empowering them with practical skills for their future is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach engaging and high-quality media lessons, covering subjects like media theory, film analysis, digital production, advertising, and journalism.
- Foster critical thinking in students, guiding them to analyse, evaluate, and create media content.
- Design and implement engaging, innovative teaching materials to enhance learning experiences.
- Support students in gaining practical media production skills, including video editing, photography, sound design, and digital content creation.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to improve media literacy and practical competencies.
- Lead extracurricular activities such as media clubs, workshops, and competitions to further engage students with the subject.
- Stay current with emerging trends in media and digital technologies, integrating them into lessons to keep content fresh and relevant.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enrich the media curriculum, creating opportunities for cross-curricular learning.
- Provide tailored support for students with additional needs, ensuring they have the tools to succeed in the media curriculum.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- QTS / or degree in subject
- In-depth knowledge of media studies, including both theory and practical media production techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine enthusiasm for media and its societal influence, with a desire to share that passion with students.
- Experience teaching Media / film Studies in a UK secondary school
- Awareness of current trends in digital media, social media, and the broader media industry is a bonus.
