Are you an enthusiastic and compassionate Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), looking to make a significant difference in the lives of students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? LTF Recruitment is seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our partnered school in Birmingham, where you will have the opportunity to have a positive impact on children's emotional wellbeing and academic development.

This HLTA role involves group support and the opportunity to lead lessons in the absence of the teacher, helping to ensure an inclusive and engaging learning environment. The school prides itself on its innovative, adaptive teaching methods, working with special educational needs (SEN) children, and fostering a safe and supportive space for students to thrive.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Providing special educational needs (SEN) support to small groups of children, tailoring lessons to ensure they are inclusive and meet individual needs.
  • Working closely with the school team to implement positive behaviour management strategies, maintaining good classroom behaviour during lessons and smaller interventions.
  • Planning and delivering targeted SEND interventions, supporting social skills development, and monitoring the progress of students.
  • Building strong relationships with parents to ensure ongoing development, communicate progress, and share strategies to support students' learning and emotional regulation.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • HLTA qualification (preferred but not essential), with previous experience as a Teaching Assistant working with children with SEN.
  • Previous experience supporting students with special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), behavioural challenges, and emotional health.
  • The ability to adapt to various classroom roles, working individually with students or in small groups, both indoors and outdoors.
  • A valid DBS and the ability to provide two references.
