Performance Objectives

  • Collaborate with the Account Management team to identify new business opportunities within Industrial and Wholesaler accounts for the client's bakery product range.
  • Take ownership of product demonstrations, creating briefs for customised products, and conducting trials with customers to bring NPD samples through to full sign-off.

Additionally, a car allowance is provided due to the nature of the role.
  • Demonstrate the client's bakery products to Strategic and Key Accounts, including industrial bakers, large craft bakery chains, and bakery and foodservice wholesalers.
  • Provide technical advice to customers, acting as a troubleshooter and resolving issues related to the client's products.
  • Support Strategic and Key Account customers with the development of new products and ideas using the client's range as the foundation.
  • Attend and support customer factory trials and the first production runs of new and existing products.
  • Present new branded products to customers to drive early buy-in and sales momentum.
  • Identify opportunities for profitable, volume-driven new product development projects within Strategic and Key Accounts, working with customers to create comprehensive briefs for submission to NPD technologists.
  • Provide technical baking advice and support to businesses within the bakery industry.
  • Collaborate with sales account managers, customer services, marketing, product teams, and quality teams, both in the UK and other locations, to ensure outstanding technical service to Strategic and Key Account customers.
  • Manage assigned customer relationships, reporting activities to senior management and the designated sales account manager.
  • Prepare visit reports, weekly planners, and project briefs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support customer and industry events as required.
  • Regular travel to customer sites is expected, as well as visits to the client's UK facilities.

Candidate Profile:

  • A BTEC or BSC (Hons) in Bakery, Bakery Technology, or Food Science is preferred; however, 15 years of experience in the bakery industry will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • 10 years of experience in the bakery sector, working with a range of customer channels, including craft bakeries, industrial manufacturers, multiple grocers ISB, or foodservice.
  • Strong knowledge of baking processes, equipment (both industrial and craft), and ingredient functionality.
  • Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Outgoing and confident communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Enthusiastic team player, with a passion for networking and engaging directly with customers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft IT systems.
