We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Service Manager/Responsible Individual to oversee the operation aSolo Childrens Home in Longbridge . This is a pivotal leadership role where you will be responsible for the overall management, quality of care, and safety of the service, ensuring the home meets regulatory requirements and delivers outstanding care to children with complex needs, including emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for improving outcomes for children, and the ability to manage a dedicated team while ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the solo childrens home, ensuring a high standard of care is provided at all times.
  • Ensure the home operates in accordance with Ofsted regulations, national standards, and best practice guidelines. Maintain continuous improvement to meet and exceed regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of individual care plans, ensuring they are tailored to the unique needs of each child.
  • Lead and support a team of residential staff, ensuring effective training, supervision, and performance management. Foster a positive team culture and promote continuous professional development.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the home by managing risk and safeguarding concerns, working closely with external agencies as required.
  • Maintain open communication with the children, their families, social workers, and other professionals to ensure collaborative, holistic care. Produce accurate reports on the childs progress, incidents, and service performance for regulatory and internal purposes.
  • Proactive in the financial management of the home, including budgeting and resource allocation, ensuring efficient use of resources to provide the best possible care within budget.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the service, identifying opportunities for growth and improvements in care delivery, as well as ensuring that the service meets the evolving needs of the children and young people.
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent is essential.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience in a senior management role within a childrens residential care setting, with a solid understanding of the challenges and responsibilities involved in managing a solo placement home.
  • The ideal candidate must be able to hold the role of Responsible Individual for the service with Ofsted.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing teams, promoting a positive working culture, and supporting staff development.
  • Extensive knowledge of Ofsted standards, the Childrens Homes Regulations 2015, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, social workers, and external agencies.
  • A genuine passion for working with vulnerable children and a commitment to providing high-quality care that focuses on their individual needs and promotes positive outcomes.
  • A valid UK driving licence is preferred for occasional transport duties if needed.
