Butler Ross are currently recruiting for a Project Buyer on behalf of a client (engineering sector) on a permanent basis, located in the Birmingham area. This is a hybrid working role, 2 days a week from home after probation, and is offering a salary up to the £45,000 mark. Ideally, you will have experience in a procurement/purchasing position with direct hands-on supplier management responsibilities in a technical manufacturing/engineering environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Negotiating favourable terms with suppliers and managing through contract life-cycle
  • Updating project procurement plans on cost and delivery, and working closely with the project team to ensure successful project delivery
  • Regular reporting to the Project Manager on the performance of the subcontractors and/or suppliers.
  • Supporting, challenging, and advising stakeholders, ensuring that the best commercial outcomes are delivered in line with the project.
  • Identifying critical/safety related long lead items, to determine and ensure sufficient early supplier engagement to minimise downstream risks and recommend an appropriate sub-contracting strategy
  • Assessing, managing and mitigating subcontractor /supplier risks that could contribute to supply chain disruptions.
  • Supporting tenders as and when required, engaging with supply chain through early supplier/partner engagement in a formal tendering process ensuring on time and high-quality responses for bid input
  • Working with the wider procurement team to develop and execute Continuous Improvement Activities
