Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs? A welcoming mainstream primary school in Lozells, Birmingham, is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their resource base, helping children with ASD, ADHD, and sensory needs access the curriculum. For the right candidate, there is potential for this role to become permanent.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the SENCO and class teachers to support pupils in the resource base. Your role will be vital in ensuring children receive tailored interventions that help them engage with their learning and develop essential skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEN
  • Use sensory strategies and structured learning approaches to aid engagement
  • Assist with alternative communication methods such as PECS and Makaton
  • Implement EHCP strategies to meet individual learning needs

Who We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting SEN children, particularly those with ASD, ADHD, and sensory needs
  • A patient, proactive, and nurturing approach to learning support
  • Ability to adapt teaching techniques to suit different needs and learning styles
  • Relevant qualifications or a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential)
