1:1 Learning Support Assistant - Erdington (B23)

Location: Erdington, Birmingham (B23)
Pay: 380-440 take home per week (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: April 2025

Are you passionate about supporting children's emotional wellbeing and looking to step into a pastoral career? We're looking for a caring and consistent Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Erdington, supporting a pupil 1:1 with attachment needs.

This is a unique role with a clear pathway into pastoral support as the placement progresses. The ideal candidate will have strong relationship-building skills, a calm and nurturing approach, and a genuine interest in helping pupils feel safe and secure at school.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with attachment-related needs
  • Build trust through consistent routines and positive reinforcement
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support learning and emotional development
  • Model and encourage emotional regulation strategies
  • Support wider pastoral duties as part of your development into a pastoral support role

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with social, emotional, or mental health needs
  • A calm, empathetic and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and team-working skills
  • Commitment to full-time work and building long-term relationships
  • Experience with trauma-informed or attachment-aware approaches is highly desirable
