Residential Support Worker

Our client is looking for Residential Support Workers to work within a children's home supporting children and young people aged 7- 18 years.

The home operates 24 hours a day, with a shift pattern of 8 am-11 pm, with some sleep-ins required. The role will entail 2-3 shifts per week, including weekends.

Duties of the Residential Support Worker:

  • Supporting children and young people aged 7 - 18 years
  • Supervising and monitoring children
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential records, including children's behavior, phone messages, and communication notes
  • Safeguarding children and young people
  • Maintaining a safe environment that complies with H&S and other requirements
  • Promoting the healthy development of children
  • Undertaking domestic tasks such as shopping, food preparation, cooking and cleaning
  • Helping children adhere to appropriate behavioral expectations and challenging children when they display inappropriate behavior, in line with the child's management and care plan.
  • Ensuring the home environment is appropriate and sensitive to the individual needs of children, including specific needs (e.g. cultural, religious, dietary, and language needs)..
  • Accompanying the children and young people on residential trips and holidays.
  • Attending and participating in staff team meetings and demonstrating an ability to reflect and learn.
  • Manage company money appropriately (e.g. petty cash); keep receipts of any purchases; and maintain accurate written records (e.g. petty cash book).

Requirements of the Residential Support Worker:

  • Enhanced DBS Desirable
  • UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
