Youth Worker

Job Title: Youth Worker - Enrichment & Learner Voice (Post-16)

Location: Birmingham, B4

Daily Rate: £100 - £110 Per Day

Start Date: Interviews taking place as soon as possible

Responsible to: Youth Worker Lead & Director of Student Experience

Post Objective: To work with students and staff within a college to develop, manage and deliver an extra-curricular enrichment programme, inclusive of activities, societies and events that promote and encourage students to engage and develop their employability and leadership skills, alongside awareness around key areas such as health, equality and diversity and safety.

A large and successful college in Birmingham City (B4 location) are looking to appoint a motivated, independent and hardworking individual to fill the post of Youth Worker - Enrichment & Learner Voice. The successful candidate will provide an effective link between college staff and students to manage and coordinate a programme of extra-curricular enrichment activities including clubs, societies, trips, volunteering, fundraising and events.

Main Duties:

  • Provided strategic and operational support to elected student representatives, developing inclusive and democratic student engagement.
  • Developed and implemented forums for student representation and consultation, influencing college policy and development.
  • To assist in the marketing of enrichment, through the creation of relevant marketing materials such as posters, website, and social media content.
  • To organise a calendar of one-off or regular charity and promotional activities (including, for example, fundraising, volunteering opportunities, and contributing to our local communities).
  • Organised student events and conferences, collaborating with curriculum teams and the Students' Union to promote student voice and experiences.
  • Managed and expanded student enrichment opportunities, including clubs, trips, and activities to enhance student participation.
  • Advocated for student views and needs, building strong relationships with individuals and groups across the college.
  • Coordinated and monitored charitable activities, volunteering, and community engagement initiatives for student enrichment.
  • Prepare risk assessments for student trips and activities, ensuring adherence to safety codes and college policies.
  • Managed enrichment budgets and produced monitoring reports, leading to continuous improvement in student engagement programmes.

Role Requirements:

  • Previous working experience in a Pastoral/Welfare/Student facing environment working with young people
  • Experience of successfully organising events/activities and delivering these to plan
  • Flexibility to work additional hours and across a variety of college venues (B4, B44, B72)
  • A relevant qualification at level 2 or above (i.e. Youth Worker) is desirable
