I have an amazing opportunity for a skilled Software developer to join my client, a leading solutions provider and be part of a team that is propelling the organisation into a new and exciting era. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact within the Software Development team, developing database and web applications primarily using Java/C#, Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle Application Express, and Salesforce.

The role is offered on a hybrid basis which means you must be able to attend their central Birmingham location at least two times a week.

Day to day duties of the Software Developer role include:
  • Collaborate with the Software Development Team to understand business requirements and integrate these requirements into applications that meet defined needs.
  • Develop, support, and maintain database and web applications in Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle Application Express, and Salesforce.
  • Lead specified projects and provide input to project plans, executing development tasks according to the project plan.
  • Adhere to and promote coding standards and processes and propose updates or changes for review.
  • Identify application improvements proactively and present changes to the team or manager.
  • Work independently on development projects with minimal supervision and participate in stakeholder meetings to gather requirements.
  • Conduct application testing and unit testing through development to ensure system stability and robustness.
  • Support user acceptance testing in conjunction with colleagues as appropriate and regularly review own code for suitability, performance, and efficiency.
  • Support the production and maintenance of application documentation and carry out patching activities as assigned.
Skills & experience required as the Software Developer include:
  • Strong knowledge and experience in software development, with a significant focus on Object-Oriented Programming languages such as Java and C#.
  • Expertise in SQL, preferably PL/SQL.
  • Proficiency in Oracle Application Express and version control systems (e.g., GitHub/GIT).
  • Familiarity with developer operations platforms (e.g., JIRA, DevOps).
  • Excellent customer service skills, strong communication abilities, and proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of coding standards and change control processes.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to produce innovative solutions.
