If this is the case, Zest Education is looking for a committed and caring Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming community school in Edgbaston. Working in a Year 5 class as an LSA, you will assist children both individually and in small groups. This is a full-time position, and the hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, beginning in January 2025.

The ideal candidate must be able to support the class teacher and motivate the children to try their best in everything they do.

As an LSA, you will be required to…

  • Motivate the students to achieve beyond their comfort zones.
  • Help children who require extra support to complete tasks.
  • Ensure students have self-assurance and comfort in their own abilities.
  • Assist teachers to plan learning activities, prepare learning materials, and carry out administrative duties.
  • Provide support in small groups and one to one.
  • Organise and maintain an inclusive and welcoming learning environment.
  • Participate in appropriate meetings and in-service training.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • It's preferable to have prior experience assisting students in a classroom.
  • Solid knowledge of the national curriculum for the Key Stages.
  • A strong commitment to building rapport with students, being aware of their needs, and having a passion for helping them.
  • The capacity to collaborate well and positively with others as a team member.
  • To exhibit excellent verbal communication skills and active listening abilities.
  • An enhanced DBS or the desire to get one.
  • Solid literacy and numeracy skills.
  • The capacity to give pupils constructive criticism in a way that upholds their sense of worth.
  • Encourage appropriate conduct in accordance with the rules and regulations of the school.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
