Role Overview: We are seeking a dedicated EAL Practitioner to join a school we are working with on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will work on a one-to-one basis with EAL students, providing tailored interventions to support their language acquisition and integration into the school community. When not working directly with EAL students, the practitioner will support other higher needs students and collaborate closely with our Literacy intervention team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one-to-one interventions with EAL students to support their English language development.
  • Assist other higher needs students within the school as part of the wider learning support team.
  • Collaborate with the Literacy intervention team to ensure cohesive support for students.
  • Monitoring and evaluating EAL students' progress (training provided if needed).
  • Develop and tailor resources to meet the individual needs of students, using both school-provided and online materials.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Language skills are advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to create and adapt educational resources to suit varying levels of student ability and progress.

Requirements:

  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
