Job Summary: We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive school community in Birmingham. The successful candidate will support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to achieve their full potential in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, assisting with their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Classroom Assistance: Support the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and activities that meet the individual needs of SEN students.
  • Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Assist in the development and implementation of IEPs, ensuring that each student’s specific needs are met.
  • Behaviour Management: Help manage and promote positive behaviour, using appropriate strategies to support students with behavioural difficulties.
  • Resource Preparation: Prepare and adapt learning materials and resources to suit the needs of SEN students.
  • Monitoring Progress: Track and record the progress of SEN students, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Pastoral Care: Offer emotional and social support to students, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other staff to ensure cohesive support for SEN students.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in SEN education.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, preferably in a school setting.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3).
  • Strong understanding of various SEN conditions and effective support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Working Hours: This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday.
