Willo Education is looking to appoint a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming and friendly Primary School based in B36 - Birmingham.The school prioritises learning on an interest-led basis, where children's education, personal growth, and development are nurtured, ensuring that the approach to teaching and learning is truly child-centric.
In this role, you will be supporting a Year 3 student on a 1:1 basis, offering assistance tailored to their individual needs. The student has an early diagnosis of Autism, and it is essential to have experience supporting children with Autism and special educational needs. Additionally, you should have a strong understanding of the primary curriculum to provide effective support.
Due to the nature of the student, there may be a requirement for personal care. This position will be on a long-term basis for the remainder of the academic year, with the potential for an extension into the next academic year. For the right candidate, there is also the opportunity for the role to become permanent, as maintaining consistency for your 1:1 pupil is important.
You will support the student throughout the school day, encouraging learning through interactive activities, sensory exploration, and helping them access the curriculum. In group settings, you'll assist the student in ensuring they can participate as fully as possible in class activities.
This is not a regular supply role - it’s an opportunity to become an integral part of the team. The school values creativity and innovation in supporting learning, and they are looking for someone who can think outside the box and act as a positive role model for the children.
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
- Level 3 in childcare or equivalent
- Minimum of 6 months of experience working with children with SEN
- Right to work in the UK
- Engaging, positive, and reliable personality
- Experience working with children with SEND and Autism in mainstream, SEN, or residential settings (references required)
- Resilient, consistent, and passionate about supporting children
- Desire for a long-term contract or permanent position
