Hays Education are supporting a local Special Needs school in recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to start working with them in January 2025. This role is to cover a vacancy and will continue into the spring term, certainly till February and possibly beyond. The successful temporary candidate would be welcome to apply for the permanent role.

  • The school is located in north Birmingham, not far from the city centre and describe themselves as a focussed and dedicated school who have young people at the centre of their ethos
  • Caters for children at KS3 level with social, emotional and mental health challenges (SEMH)
  • The role entails supporting children in Year 7 and Year 8 pupils in class who have SEMH and some other additional SEN
  • School will support with training candidates who may not have experience of working in these kinds of settings
  • The successful candidate will have experience of working with children with challenging behaviour and SEMH
  • You will be able to demonstrate the key competencies of working with children with SEMH and also de-escalation techniques
  • Hays Education will be able to obtain recent satisfactory references that reflect this experience
  • The team of staff currently in post and look forward to welcoming a new addition to the team.
