SEN 1.1 TEACHING ASSISTANT

Salary: £85+ per day

Hours: Monday to Friday, Full time.

Duration: On going/ Long Term

Location: Great Barr, Birmingham, West Midlands

Job Description:

SMART Education are looking for an experienced Teaching assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a SEN pupil who is new to the school. 

The school requires a teaching assistant with prior experience and knowledge in supporting pupils with additional needs. 

This pupil is a year 3 student who had Autism, visual impairments and language and speech needs. 

This is a full time role, Monday to Friday, starting ASAP.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualise support with your assigned pupil, ensuring their individual educational and developmental needs are met.
  • You will modify and adapt learning materials and resources to suit the pupils specific learning style and needs.
  • You will implement and follow behaviour management strategies tailored to the pupils needs, promoting a positive and conducive learning environment.
  • Utilise appropriate communication methods, including non-verbal communication tools, to interact effectively with your assigned pupil.
  • You will monitor and record the pupils progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, SENCO & outside agencies who provide support for the pupil and family.
  • Support the implementation of the pupils individualised education plan or any other personalised learning plans.
  • Aid with personal care tasks, to ensure the pupils comfort and well-being.
  • Always ensure the pupils safety, supervising them during classroom activities, breaks and any other school events.

Requirements:

  • Level 2 or 3 teaching assistant/ childcare learning and development – applicants lacking the relevant qualification will not be considered.
  • At least 6+ Month’s experience within the Primary School setting environment - applicants lacking the required experience will not be considered.
  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • DBS on the update service (we can process one for you)
  • Classroom TA / LSA / 1:1 experience
  • SEN experience/ knowledge/ additional CPD
