We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable SEN Teaching Assistants to join a network of schools across Birmingham on a day-to-day basis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed to making a difference in the lives of children, providing the tailored support they need to thrive academically and emotionally. Whether you are an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or new to the role, we welcome applicants who are passionate about working with children and have a keen interest in supporting their individual learning needs.

As a Day-to-Day SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and school staff to provide essential support to students with a range of additional learning needs. Your role will vary from day to day, offering you the opportunity to gain diverse experience across different school settings while helping students overcome challenges and reach their potential. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties
  • Assist in delivering differentiated lessons and activities to ensure every student can access the curriculum
  • Work closely with class teachers to implement personalised learning plans and strategies
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for students, helping them with tasks, activities, and managing behaviour
  • Help students develop their social, emotional, and communication skills in a safe and supportive environment
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and other school staff
  • Promote inclusion and encourage positive relationships between students
  • Support students with transitions throughout the day, including moving between lessons, break times, and lunchtime
  • Follow school policies and procedures regarding safeguarding and student welfare

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience of working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)
  • A compassionate and patient nature, with the ability to adapt to individual students needs
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Understanding of SEN and the challenges faced by children with additional learning needs
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • A flexible and adaptable approach, with the willingness to work across different schools and age groups
  • A commitment to providing high-quality support and promoting inclusive education
