Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with higher needs SEN? A welcoming mainstream primary school in Edgbaston is looking for a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in their specialist resource base. You will be helping them access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
The Role
You will provide 1:1 and small group support to children with a range of complex needs. The children in the resource base require targeted support across the four key areas of SEN:
- Cognition and Learning - adapting learning materials and using multisensory strategies to support understanding
- Communication and Interaction - helping children develop speech, language, and social skills through PECS, Makaton, and structured interventions
- Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) - supporting children with self-regulation, emotional resilience, and positive behaviour strategies
- Sensory and Physical Needs - using sensory play, movement breaks, and assistive technology to help children engage with learning
Who We're Looking For
- Experience supporting SEN children, particularly those with ASD, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, and SEMH needs
- A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable
- A patient, nurturing, and flexible approach to working with children with complex needs
