Smart Education is currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students aged 2 to 19 years with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). Job Requirements:

  • A valid Child or Child and Adult Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Minimum 6 months experience in a school or similar SEN setting
  • Experience working with children or young people with ASD, MLD, SEMH, and SLD needs
  • Ability to provide tailored support to meet the individual needs of students
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting diverse learning styles
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff

Your Role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide individualised support to students with ASD, MLD, SEMH, and SLD. You will assist in creating an engaging and positive learning environment, help students engage with their lessons, and provide support with personal care where needed. You will also help manage and support students with challenging behaviours, ensuring that each student has the best possible opportunity to thrive in a safe and supportive environment.
