About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work within the Pathways Provision at a primary school in B14, Kings Heath. This specialist provision supports children aged 4-6 years (Reception & KS1) with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, and challenging behaviour. The role involves providing tailored support, implementing behaviour strategies, and fostering a nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting children with ASD, ADHD, and additional needs in a specialist provision setting.
- Assisting with learning activities and behaviour support both inside and outside the classroom.
- Implementing strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
- Encouraging social, emotional, and academic development through structured support.
- Supporting children with transitions and engagement in learning activities.
- Working closely with the SENCO, Class Teacher, and support staff to provide a cohesive approach.
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents to ensure consistent support.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience working with SEN pupils, particularly in Early Years or KS1.
- Strong behaviour management skills and experience working with challenging behaviour.
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting young learners.
- Ability to adapt to individual needs and implement tailored support strategies.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
