Our partnered SEND School in Erdington is dedicated to providing exceptional learning opportunities for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Our school is a nurturing environment where every child is valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Role Overview: We are seeking a passionate and experienced SEND Teacher to join the dynamic team at our partnered school. This role is a full-time position starting as soon as possible, with the potential to become a permanent member of staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with complex needs, utilising Makaton, and implementing scaffolding learning techniques to support and enhance the educational experience of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver tailored lesson plans that meet the diverse needs of students with complex learning needs.
  • Utilise Makaton to support communication and learning.
  • Implement scaffolding strategies to ensure students can access the curriculum and make progress.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and parents to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and adapting teaching methods as needed.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment where every student feels valued and supported.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in teaching students with SEND, particularly those with complex needs.
  • Proficiency in Makaton and its application in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of scaffolding learning techniques and how to implement them effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to teaching.
