Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Secondary School, BirminghamWe are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join an outstanding team at a secondary school in Birmingham. The successful candidate will work closely with students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to ensure they receive the support they need to succeed in their academic and personal development. This role requires a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or experience working with young people with special educational needs.Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one support for students with SEND, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other teaching staff to plan and deliver differentiated learning activities for students with SEND.
  • Assist with the monitoring and tracking of students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
  • Support students with SEND during examinations and assessments, ensuring they are able to access the content and complete the tasks to the best of their ability.
  • Help students with SEND develop their social skills, self-esteem, and confidence.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with students with SEND in a secondary school setting.
  • Knowledge of a range of SEND, including but not limited to: Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and SEMH
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and teaching staff.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team of Teaching Assistants
  • A patient and empathetic approach to supporting students with SEND.
