About the Role:
An inclusive SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school based in Birmingham (B11) are seeking a passionate and dedicated Qualified Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis after February half term. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and young people who require additional support due to SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH challenges.

As a key member of their teaching staff, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, providing pastoral care, and helping children with diverse needs to achieve their full potential. You will play an essential role in shaping positive outcomes for students, ensuring a supportive and safe learning environment. There will be a maximum of 8/9 children in your class with up to 3 Teaching Assistant's to support you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored lessons that meet the individual needs of children with SEN/SEMH.
  • Create a positive and nurturing classroom environment that promotes learning, well-being, and emotional development.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, SENCO, and other staff members to provide integrated support.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to suit individual needs.
  • Engage with parents and carers to support the development of each child.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, using appropriate systems.

Key Requirements:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children with SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by children with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to teaching and supporting students.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Enhanced DBS check required (or willingness to obtain one).
