Smart Education is currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to support students aged 2 to 19 years with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). This is an exciting opportunity to help create a positive and inclusive learning environment while delivering a tailored curriculum that meets the individual needs of each student.

Job Requirements:

  • A valid Child or Child and Adult Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)
  • A recognised Teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 6 months experience in a school or similar SEN setting
  • Experience working with children or young people with ASD, MLD, SEMH, and SLD needs
  • Ability to differentiate teaching methods and resources to meet the individual learning needs of students
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting diverse learning styles
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and other staff

Your Role: As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and tailored lessons to students with ASD, MLD, SEMH, and SLD. You will work closely with the SENCO and support staff to create and implement individual learning plans for students, ensuring that each child’s learning needs are met. You will foster an inclusive and positive classroom environment, manage and support students with challenging behaviours, and assist with personal care where necessary. Your role will also involve promoting both academic and social development, helping students build independence and achieve their personal goals.
