We are working on behalf of a school in west Birmingham who are looking for a class teacher to cover one of their KS3 classes during the spring term. The school caters for pupils with Autism and use elements of TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children) and SCERTS (Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, and Transactional Support) in our classroom practices. We use Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) to support the communication of pupils who are unable to make their wants and needs known verbally. The details of the role are as follows:

  • Covering KS3 class of ASC pupils from January - April 2025
  • Ongoing weekly time sheet - payment in line with MPS
  • School requires someone with experience of KS3 ASC
  • The person concerned needs to have good interpersonal skills
  • The school are looking for someone who is relatable and fun when working with the pupils
  • Good parent communication skills are essential for this role
