Band 6 Children’s Speech and Language Therapist.
Based- Birmingham
We are looking for SaLTs with:
- Highly developed communication skills
- Established clinical skills in assessment & intervention for children of all ages, in a range of settings and presenting with a wide range of SLCN and complex needs
- Significant experience of working as part of multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams, including including educational colleagues, providing early intervention for children and young people.
- Experience of working with a diverse caseload
We have sessions available in our Early Years and School age teams delivering an integrated SaLT service within a Balanced System. Therapists work with young children and families in EY 'book-ins’ in local children centres and manage follow-ups in nurseries and clinics. Therapists are assigned as link SaLTs in our local schools working with education staff and families to support children with SLCN at Universal, Targeted and Specialist levels.
Main Duties:
You will be delivering telephone appointments and face to face sessions in patient homes, clinics and special schools (and mainstream nurseries / schools if needed), alongside use of videos submitted by family and occasional video calls where appropriate, to children with eating, drinking and swallowing needs. There will be training to set you up and access to admin support. There are clearly defined pathways, access to experts and access to letters and report templates.
Applicants will need to have post-registration qualifications in Paediatric dysphagia or equivalent, and experience independently managing a varied / complex paediatric dysphagia caseload.
Start date: ASAP
Location: Base is MHH, with community visits.
Hours: M-F 0830-1630 or 0900-1700 Flexible. Up to full time hours, 3 month contract (with option to extend to end of academic year).
