Sports Coach/Cover Supervisor
Pay Rate: £90-£130

Time: 8.25am-4.25pm - Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)

Are you a Sports Coach looking for long term work within schools? Do you have experience working with 5 -12 year olds with additional learning requirements and Challenging Behaviour?

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a Sports Specialist to work at an mainstream primary provision in Birmingham, where providing 1:1 and group support as well as a whole class.
The role includes working with children who have complex behavioural needs and using sports as a therapeutic method to manage challenging behaviours and to support the child’s learning away from the classroom.
The role includes:
- Providing 1:1 behaviour interventions for pupils who have challenging behaviour and Mental Health difficulties.
- General Group support and using sports as an enrichment activity
- Supporting the Class Teacher with daily tasks and planning.
- Taking small groups of children out of the classroom to use sports as a learning method
- Encourage learning and concertation in lessons
- Leading sports classes indoors and outdoors
- Identifying triggers of specific behaviours
- Using sports as a method of de-escalating situations
- Acting as a positive role model, energetic and always willing to support.
- Teaching classes during PPA Cover.
- Ensuring you are following the Sports curriculum.
The ideal candidates will have:
- Experienced in coaching/working with children or young people with additional needs previously.
- Experienced working with Challenging Behaviour, Autism, ADHD and Social and Emotional Mental Health
- Relevant qualifications, qualifications in multiple sports will be an advantage
- Must have a good understanding of the curriculum, English, Maths and Science.
- Must be able to work full time – 5 days a week.
- Taken part in teaching and planning lessons.
Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS Child and Adult Check – Must be on the update service. (We can assist you with a DBS if you do not have one)
- 2x References are a must in order to clear your file with GSL.
